- My main passion in life is computers and technology. I'm a huge Linux and open source software advocate, though I'm not against using commercial software to get the job done. I do keep Windows around for gaming, but play so few games these days that it almost never sees the light of day. I have a mac mini - I don't touch it unless I have to (when writing cross platform programs), but I do have one. I do some programming, I do some digital graphics in the GIMP, I'm studying Software Engineering at the Australian National University, I administer several servers, I'm obsessed about IT security and I love my Nokia Internet Tablet.
I listen to a lot of music. You have time to do that when you spend as much time using computers like me. I'm a huge fan of the Power and Symphonic Metal genres with my two favourite bands being Sonata Arctica and Nightwish. I definitely favour metal bands that use clean vocals over those that insist on yelling their lyrics, with few exceptions. I also enjoy a range of other genres including Celtic, New Age and Ambient - the third highest ranking band on my last.fm profile is Loreena McKennitt.
